"AMASC Youth Bulletin"

English Français Espagnol

July 2003

We have the pleasure to announce the launching of the AMASC World Youth Bulletin in July 2003. This is the result of a long series of discussions between international networks of alumnae of the Sacred Heart. We felt that such a bulletin is necessary to facilitate the flow of information and news, and to foster collaboration between the young alumnae/i throughout the world. The World Youth Bulletin will work to complement the already existent web structure that has been available to all with Internet access for the past few years.

The AMASC World Youth Bulletin aims to bring world news to all past students of the Sacred Heart all over the world. The particular aim is to reach out to the young past pupils worldwide. This will also be a place to discuss the following themes: collaboration, woman´s issues, communication, social justice, human rights, humanitarian projects, and enviromental issues in the world of today. We would like to take this opportunity to invite all those who are interested to participate and contribute to the dissemination of news, information, updates and anything they may feel is of use and interest to others in this world-wide community.

To facilitate communication and to increase the usefulness of this bulletin, we will publish it in a number of languages, namely: English, Italian, Spanish and French. The bulletin will be published electronically and can be accessed through a link on the main AMASC web page. Regular updates will be posted every three months encouraging the dissemination of all kinds of information, thereby facilitating communication and collaboration. Local associations are free to print the bulletin and publish it in their newsletters or journals to further increase the dissemination of information.

The principal idea behind this bulletin is similar to that for a newsletter. Indeed it will be a way for us to have our own medium in which we can share ideas, values, opinions, collaborate on projects, publish mailshots, and the latest news updates and appeals. This is going to be a dynamic place for you to express whatever you want and also to maintain contact with AMASC.

Following recent events and interesting inter regional meetings we would like to inaugurate the first issue with a special collection of papers and reports. So we would like to take this opportunity to invite the following persons to submit a piece in the forthcoming issue. These include:

• Olga Rome (USA) - World President of AMASC is cordially invited to submit a few words of inspiration in her capacity as current World President on the launching of this Bulletin for the Young in the World;

• Sr. Clare Pratt RSCJ is cordially invited to submit a few words in her capacity as Mother Superior of the Religious Community of the Sacred Heart on the values we have inherited from Saint Madeleine Sophie, which we may wish to reflect in our work on, and through, this bulletin.
Further to these founding articles we will present an inaugural paper by Ana Drisaldi (Argentina) who is the current world representative on the AMASC board for the young alumnae/i world-wide, and a piece by Alessia Clemente (Italy) on communication channels for the world wide community of children of the Sacred Heart.

While we can argue that this AMASC World Youth Bulletin will facilitate communication and collaboration between various people and constituted bodies around the globe, we welcome any feedback and comments on any aspect of presentation and content. Once again we would like to extend our invitation to all those interested in posting a paper on this bulletin to come forth. We welcome all participation with open arms and look forward to sharing information, news, and reports with all the members of the Sacred Heart community.

And finally we would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who encouraged and inspired us to produce the AMASC World Youth Bulletin.
Yours truly,
Ana, Alessia and Rachel.
