February 19, 2006 - Day of Reflection
and Prayer for Uganda
On January 20, 2006, the Association of the Major Superiors of
Religious Institutes in Uganda (AMSRIU) issued a statement in
which they invite all religious and all seekers of peace-in-justice
and brotherhood for our country to a public day of reflection
and prayer for Uganda on Sunday, February 19, 2006.
The objective of their statement is to join in the effort of reflection
and action of all those who seek to know and live by the truth
which will set us all free in order to be able to work for peace-in-justice
and brotherhood in our county. The statement addresses five essential
areas of concern for Uganda today:
* consolidating the democratic process;
* thee Northern-Eastern conflict;
* the fight against corruption;
* the consequences of the ruling against Uganda by the International
Court of Justice (ICJ);
* the forthcoming elections.
The text of the full statement can be found at
http://www.africamission-mafr.org/anbbia217.htm as well as
through the site of the RSCJs <http://www.rscjinternational.org/>
.
The Uganda-Kenya province asks us to join them in prayer on this
day.

Please join all United States and Canada in continuing to pray
for our Sacred Heart Family throughout the Gulf Coast region.
We give thanks to God that the Religious of the Sacred Heart in
New Orleans are safe as well as our AMASC President Olga Rome
and her family and AMASC Treasurer Irene MacInroth and her family.
We continue to hear that all conference committee members are
safe, though electronic communications are still not restored.
The families of the Academy of the Sacred Heart in New Orleans
"the Rosary" have already been re-located and the students
enrolled in Duschesne Academy of the Sacred Heart in Houston,
TX and Academy of the Sacred Heart in Grand Coteau, LA. To help
with this transition, please visit http://www.aashnet.org
and read how to contribute to the Society's Hurricane Relief/Network
Schools fund to be used to assist two Sacred Heart schools in
the South that are receiving large numbers of students. Please
continue to pray also for the thousands of people left homeless
and jobless in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
With love and confidence that our world alumnae/i community will
help us to rise to this challenge

Claudia Taylor-East received an email from Maria Victoria Buerete
informing her that AMASC Board Member and National President of
Spain, Carmen de Villalobos Ortega 's mother passed away a few
days ago.
It is only a few months ago that Carmen lost her father so her
grief must be tremendous. Let us try and give her some of our
support and keep her in our prayers.

- from Jacqueline Klomp Verhoeven. Yesterday we received the sad
news that the husband of our former president AnneMarie van Berckel-van
Mierlo has passed away. I am sure you have met Annemarie, she
also is the daughter of the founder of AMASC, the late Mies van
Mierlo-Mutsaerts. Tomorrow there is the memorial service and I
will attend, representing both AMASC, as I am sure you will agree,
and our national association as none of the Boardmembers can attend.
Pieter Jan van Berckel was 79 years old; he has suffered several
strokes under the last few years and was recently also diagnosed
with serious heart-problems. An operation was too risky with regard
to his condition.Hermine van Asten told me today that Annemarie
fully accepts his passing away, although she will miss him terribly,
of course. Annemarie and Pieter have three children, a daughter
and two sons, all married, and 8 living grandchildren, one babygirl,
called Mies after her great-grandmother...., died soon after birth.
4 June 2004 - from
Hermine van Asten-Wennekers, President S.C.V. The Netherlands.
We will ask you
all to pray for the husband of one of our Boardmembers, who has
been diagnosed with cancer of the bladder. We
feel so gratefull and priviliged, that there is the possibility
to ask AMASC-members all over the world to pray for him and his
family. Thank you so much.
Thursday 20 May 2004
- Our deepest condolences go to Carmen de Villalobos, National
President of Spain and AMASC Board member. Her dear father passed

Celebremos juntas
con una oración por esta familia.

The Alumnae of Australia pray that the Spanish alumnae and all
affected by the recent bombings in Madrid may be given strength
and consolation through the love of The Sacred Heart and Mater
Admirabilis.Our thoughts are with you
Anne Kelly, President of Australia Sacré-Coeur Association
Sunday 14 March, 2004
'We share with the Spanish Alumnae, and particularly those in
Madrid their grief and shock and loss of one moment when their
city became a target for a terrorist act of such proportions.
We marvel at their spirit of courage and determination as evidenced
by the solidarity of their response, as thousands, even millions
gathered together to witness the community and communion that
will heal and restore the city and its people. We pray that the
trauma can offer a breathing space and in that space may we all
recognise the suffering of so many innocents in this world."

Councillor

we all join together in prayer for a successful intervention and
recovery.Olga and her family are very encouraged and deeply appreciative

the world.
5 February 2004-
from Olga Rome, AMASC President . We have some very sad news,
again! Our dear friend and AMASC treasurer, Irene Mackenroth,
has been diagnosed with cancer. We are forming a prayer chain
around the world asking Henriette Delille to intercede for us
in obtaining a miracle cure. The prayer for the Beatification
of Mother Delille is as follows: "O good and gracious God,
you called Henriette Delille to give herself in service and in
love to the slaves and the sick, to the orphan and the aged, to
the forgotten and to the despised. Grant that inspired by her
life, we might be renewed in heart and mind. If it be your will,
may she one day be raised to the honor of sainthood. By her prayers,
may we live in harmony and peace.
Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen." We pray that the complete
recovery of our Irene will be the miracle to make this happen!
