"Spirituality"
Penny Sturrock - Director Spirituality - AMASC
Board 2006-2010
“The
deepest level of communication is not communication. It is communion.
It is wordless. It is beyond words; and it is beyond speech; and
it is beyond concept. Not that we discover a new unity. We discover
an older unity. My dear (sisters), we are already one. But we imagine
that we are not. And what we have to recover is our original unity.
What we have to be is what we are” (Thomas Merton)
"Nothing is more important for people of our time than
to recover the capacity for silence. Silence is the medium of
unity." http://www.wccm.org
AMASC ADVENT REFLECTIONS
Préparation de l'Avent
Reflexiones del advenimiento
(with thanks to Penny Sturrock)
Over the next four weeks, as we move towards the
Season of Light, Christmas, I hope that you will set out with
me and others who care to share the journey, on a path of reflection
and contemplation of the unfolding mystery of the meaning of
the birth of Jesus. I hope you will find deep renewal, peace,
joy and refreshment at every level of your journey. Allow a short
time each day to practise the way of waiting in joyful hope.
A short text will precede an invitation to be still and silent
for a time where we can enter into the expectant quiet- the quiet
before dawn, a time full of promise of what is uncovered as the
light comes. Perhaps you will light a candle each time
you come to this page as a symbol of the presence of the Light
of Christ within and amongst us.
